    Polygenic Risk Scores for Depression

Genetic research has transpired over the last two decades such that people like you and me can find out more about our risk for depression. We know through this research that depression is not influenced by just one gene or even a handful of them, but instead, by polygenic or multiple genes that have small-effect variations associated with depression and that can influence our risk or susceptibility to the disorder. Polygenic Risk Scores or PRS for depression can quantify these contributing effects into a score, so have a predictive ability. Image is courtesy of https://diagnostics.medgenome.com
